Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE maple syrup. I use maple syrup on the daily, and I will put it on just about anything!
I have, in fact, even been compared to the movie Elf. You know, the Christmas elf who pours maple syrup on everything, including pasta, and keeps a travel size bottle of syrup up his sleeve.
And yes, I do travel with my Beiler maple syrup in a little bottle as well!
Maple syrup has so many uses and health benefits, and I just love it!
But, not just any maple syrup will do.
Once you go Beiler maple syrup, you can’t go back.
That is because maple syrup from Beiler Family Farm is hand crafted, and cooked over a carefully managed wood fire. The fire is the special ingredient! The smoke imparts a unique flavor into the syrup giving it a beautiful deep robust taste and rich color.
Let me just go ahead and list all the ways I love maple syrup:
The Drizzle
Maple syrup is made for drizzling! I love it drizzled over raw cow milk yogurt best.
Try it drizzled on icecream, waffles, cooked carrots, sweet potatoes, and of course pancakes!
The Sweetener
Ditch the processed sugar in your coffee and tea and try maple syrup instead!
I promise you won’t miss the granulated sugar.
The Bakers Best Kept Secret
I have to admit, I almost never use sugar in my homemade baked goods. Instead, I always use maple syrup! And guess what? No one ever knows the difference!
The Sauce
Maple syrup is a wonderful ingredient to use in savory dishes as well! Perfect for glazes, sauces, marinades, and more.
The Healthy Sweet
Maple syrup is packed with antioxidants and boasts a number of health benefits!
- Antioxidants are important for the body. They neutralize free radicals, which may cause various diseases. Studies suggest that darker varieties of maple syrup like grade B contain higher amounts of antioxidants than lighter varieties like grade A. (1) (2) (3)
- Maple Syrup also contains zinc and manganese. Zinc is helpful at protecting the heart from cardiovascular disease. (4) Manganese is an essential trace element found in maple syrup. It is important for good bone health, reproductive health, proper function of the immune system and more. (5)
With all those reasons to love maple syrup, why would you even reach for the granulated sugar?
Bonus - maple syrup is a native and sustainable food. Who could ask for more?
