You can have that dream vacation and your farm food, too!

The season for summer vacations is just about here, and I know many of us can’t wait to get out there and take some much needed time off!
Vacay is all about relaxing, having fun, and leaving all the day-to-day stresses behind.
But one daily stress is something that is not so easy to leave behind, because we literally could not live without it. I am talking about eating!
Eating on vacation is often something to look forward to. Trying out new restaurants or new regional or exotic foods you have never tried before.
But sometimes, eating on vacation can be stressful.
Eating out every meal can be super expensive and also leave you feeling not so great, especially if you're used to eating farm fresh food all the time!
And no one wants to feel bloated and unwell on vacation. It’s a time to feel your best!
If you are a customer buying from local farms, I think it’s pretty safe to say that you’re likely someone who cares a lot about your food and a lot about your health.
So, why not have the best of both worlds on vacation?
You can have your vacay and your farm food too!
And I am here to help you out. I might just be the master of traveling with my own food!
I know, I know your thinking, “But I don’t want to cook while I am on vacation.” Or, “I can’t cook while on vacation because there is no kitchen where I am going!”
I get that, and I don’t want to cook while on vacation either...so I don’t.
This is what I do instead:
The week before any trip, I plan out what food we will need to bring. I make sure to do all my shopping, and then I meal-prep and cook everything ahead of time using all our favorite farm fresh ingredients!
I then freeze all my make ahead meals in travel safe containers.
I freeze them for 2 reasons:
- The meals last longer stored frozen.
- The frozen meals take a long time to thaw out in case anything happens while traveling to our destination.
On the day we are ready to leave for vacation I pack up all our food in a big cooler with ice packs and off we go!
Voila! No more cooking on vacation, and all of the nutritious farm fresh food we can eat is at hand when we want it.
All I need to do is pull out the meals as needed, re-heat and enjoy!
I promise you, I have tested this method over and over again with lots of success.
I have even traveled on a plane from NYC to Florida for a week long trip to Disney World with all my food. I simply packed it in its own big suitcase, (haha)!
I have done long 13 hour road trips, short day trips, hotel stays with no fridge or microwave, and houses with a full kitchen.
I have done it all, and I am always so happy to have food that I know is nourishing for my family, no matter where we go!
Try it out. Itcertainly doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Maybe start with just bringing one make ahead meal or snack. It will be nice to have a taste of home while you're away.
When you go on vacation this summer, don’t forget to pack some Beiler Family Farm food for your trip!
Enjoy the food,
